We are delighted to invite you to the 32nd Annual Asilomar Bible Conference. Over the past year, the Bible Study Seminars (BSS) Board has been working on several fronts to support your efforts to have a meaningful relationship with the Bible. Let’s start with our three principal areas of outreach: conferences, curriculum, and celebrations.

Conferences. You will notice something new on the cover of the brochure – a second conference in the Midwest in September. We are moving the experience ‘eastward of Eden’ to broaden the availability of the speakers to a wider audience and offer the experience at a lower cost in both travel and living expense. The programs are similar but unique and you are welcome to attend both. How cool is that?

Curriculum. So far we have introduced five workbooks to enhance home Bible study and they were warmly received. In fact, we sold out of our first two printings and have started on our third. We are particularly pleased to note how many individuals and groups who have worked through one workbook, are now purchasing another. Thank you for the affirmation that represents of our efforts to support your study. Now we are introducing a new workbook, our largest yet, the 200 page companion to Mark, authored by Mary Jane Chaignot – who did such masterful work on the 22 part series on Mark in The Christian Science Journal. We have more workbooks on the Prophets, Proverbs, the remainder of Acts, and healing in the Bible in various stages of development.

Celebrations. We are exploring how to better serve the Cause of Christian Science and be of support to Church by reaching a larger public as well as a younger constituency with a love of the Bible. Building upon the morning Celebrations we have enjoyed at Asilomar, we are considering how we could expand those models of drama, interview, testimony, contemporary music, and Bible teaching into other venues. These forms are common to those not familiar with Christian Science or our form of church worship today. We will be sharing more with you as this essential idea develops.

To better support what we have come to call the three legs of our mission above – conferences. curriculum, and celebrations – we have been working to improve the website as a way to reach out and make our offerings more easily accessible. Soon you will be able to order each of the workbooks discussed above on the website, register online for the Bible conferences and make a tax-deductible donation to this work online. We are working to expand this user-friendly site as a resource for seekers everywhere.

In pursuing this work, we could really use your support – financial and otherwise. In order to enable and expand the various outreach offerings, the Board has established a meaningful fundraising target. Your contribution toward that target would be most appreciated and would allow Bible Study Seminars to respond to both the requests we are receiving as well as “enlarge the borders of our tent” and bring new people into this community of Bible lovers.

Thank you for the many letters of appreciation and support. They show you share our enthusiasm for what BSS is doing. If you have other ideas on what we could address, please feel free to get in touch.

Sincerely,
The Board of Bible Study Seminars
