SPECIAL PRESENTERS

Dorsha Campbell, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is certified in Analytical Reading and has taught classes on how to read the Bible in over 50 cities. Her professionalism as helped many, many people read with more meaning in their own study of Scripture and to do so with greater ease and effectiveness in front of their church congregations. Dorsha's "Reading the Bible for Meaning" has been a popular part of the Asilomar Bible Conference for many years.

Paul White has won state and national awards as both a teacher and an administrator, and this after his first career as a concrete contractor. For the last ten years he has educated the most high-risk youth in L.A. county (we're talking about many with one or more felony convictions). The school he founded and runs boasts a graduation rate 20% higher than traditional schools of so-call "normal" kids, elicits 100% parent participation, tests 100% clean for drugs, has 100% of the student body working at jobs in the community, 100% of the students have savings accounts, and this record has held for eight years now. He has authored dozens of articles on education reform, gang prevention, and race issues in the L.A. Times, The Christian Science Monitor, Education Week, and The Washington Post — among others. His book, White's Rules — Saving our Youth, One Kid at a Time, was released by Random House this past spring as a model for how other schools could achieve the same results as his in literally days (and some are imitating his approach).

At 15, Paul "found his way" into a Christian Science Sunday School; shortly thereafter he was healed instantaneously of an injury and has been a member of 10 different branch churches in his travels since. Taking calls in the practice since 1976, his present church affiliation is with what he describes as a VERY informal Christian Science group which meets in a park "frequented almost exclusively by non-English speaking illegal immigrants, alcoholics and drug addics, the homeless, and gang members."

Reverend Doctor Ricky Porter has been a Presbyterian Pastor since 1983 and a student of Christian Science since 1995. In 2002 he made a presentation to the staff of The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston and was subsequently featured in the Christian Science Journal. A 2005 recipient of a grant from the Lily Endowment for his work on "Christian Spiritual Healing," he is currently pastoring a church in Georgia and is on the Board of Advisors for the Mary Baker Eddy Library for the Betterment of Humanity.
Dwight Oyer is a Grammy-nominated recording engineer who has owned his own recording and publishing company in Denver, Boston, and St. Louis. A noted performer and recording artist in his own right, Dwight's gentle instrumentation and rich vocal interpretation of beloved hymns have brought inspiration and healing to people around the world. Dwight became Musician in Residence for the Asilomar Bible Conference in 2005.

Bob Dill, a.k.a. Mister Dill, is a local legend in St. Louis, having played in regional bands since 1968. He plays enough instruments to be an orchestra all by himself and he was a pioneer in utilizing some of the forms of synthetic accompaniment you'll see at Asilomar. Watching him play trumpet, flute, and a host of other instruments is to gain some small insight into his musical and technical artistry. Bob is widely respected throughout the music scene in St. Louis and his long-time professional partnership with Georgy has inspired people from a wide variety of faith backgrounds.

Georgy Rock has performed nationally in churches, clubs, coffeehouses, and theaters. She has released several independent collections of music, including "My Father's Child," "The Prince of Everything," and her most recent CD, "Heavenward." She also performed on the Emmy Award-wining documentary film, "The World's Greatest Fair," produced by Civil Pictures. Georgy has recorded on the A&M label with the folk-rock band The London Phogg while maintaining an active solor career. She is the daughter of a dancer and famed trumpeter and singer George Rock (who played with bandleader Spike Jones and performed the childlike voice in the classic holiday song, "All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth.") Georgy is a class-taught Christian Scientist and, along with Mr. Dill, leads the musical portion of an evening Bible celebration program called Sunday Night Live at a branch church in St. Louis.
